Take a self-guided tour of the trade house and museum filled with centuries of artifacts, or wander the hiking trails. Special events like the annual Indian Arts Showcase and PowWow and a traditional Wacipi honor the Northern Plains tribes.
Located in Williston’s original library building, the James Memorial Art Center preserves the historic building while sharing art with the community through events like their annual Art Fest, Warm Up After Light Up to welcome the holiday season, and Edgar Allan Poe Reading Night for Halloween. They feature live acoustic music on the third Friday of the month, and offer art classes and exhibits year-round.
Once a year the best and brightest young women in North Dakota converge on Williston to compete for scholarship money and the crown in the Miss North Dakota Scholarship Pageant. The winner represents the state in the Miss America competition. Catch the glamour every June at Bakken Auditorium.
