What’s New for the Gladiator in 2023?
Even though the Gladiator has proven to be a major success with drivers, Jeep is not content to just keep producing the same exact truck year after year. No, Jeep is always looking to give motorists more with each successive year of their amazing models. The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is no exception. Jeep has discontinued the Altitude trim level on the Gladiator and replaced it with the Freedom special edition. This is based on the Sport S trim, adding military themes to this Gladiator to honor the servicemen and women who protect our freedoms and liberties in this nation. This includes such things as an American flag decal on each side of the Gladiator Freedom, an Oscar Mike badge on the rear tailgate, and leather-trimmed cloth seats inside that have black accent stitching. In addition, the Gladiator Freedom has a set of LED headlights and fog lamps, capable steel front and rear bumpers that will come in handy on the trail, and steel rock rails to provide better protection when off-roading. Drivers who choose the 2023 Gladiator High Altitude, the top trim of this model, can choose a new Capability Package. This adds a winch-capable front bumper, a front off-road camera, and steel rock rails. Each of these features will make the Gladiator High Altitude even more capable when you take it out on the trails near Minot. In addition, the Gladiator Willys trim now features a standard keyless entry with a remote starter that can also be used as a garage door opener. While most of these improvements are geared toward off-roading, Jeep hasn’t forgotten those Gladiator drivers looking for comfort and convenience features in their trucks.Jeep Continues the Gladiator’s Traditional Engine Choices
Since it was launched in 2020, the Jeep Gladiator has offered drivers the choice of two amazing engines. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. It features a dual overhead cam (DOHC) design, with 24 valves feeding its six cylinders, with Jeep’s ESS system, a former of automatic stop/start to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. The engine uses sequential multiport fuel injection to deliver up to 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with this engine, the Gladiator can tow up to 7,650 pounds and carry up to 1,710 pounds in its bed. That is the most conventional towing for any midsize pickup truck with a gas engine in the Gladiator’s vehicle class. Whichever transmission you choose, you will get solid fuel economy ratings with both providing a combined 19 MPG. You will also find a diesel engine option on some of the Jeep Gladiators for sale, which is a very novel feature on a midsize pickup truck. This is a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 paired with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is designed to deliver greater torque at lower engine speeds. The EcoDiesel engine utilizes a turbocharger to boost performance and also has a DOHC configuration like the gas engine. However, where the gas engine has an aluminum block, the EcoDiesel features a compacted graphite iron cylinder block. It also uses common rail fuel injection, which is standard for most diesel engines. This engine provides 260 horsepower and an impressive 442 lb-ft of torque. This helps the Gladiator tow up to 6,500 pounds and haul up to 1,350 pounds in its standard 35.5 cubic foot bed. This is a very fuel-efficient engine for the Gladiator. When equipped with the available EcoDiesel, the Gladiator gets an EPA-estimated 24 MPG combined. This makes this engine a great choice for Minot drivers looking to get a little more mileage out of their Gladiator truck. All 2023 Jeep Gladiators are equipped with standard four-wheel drive with heavy-duty Dana 44 axles for greater traction on and off the road.Advanced Technology to Help With Safety and Connectivity
Don’t let its rugged looks fool you. This 2023 Gladiator is a technologically advanced pickup truck. Jeep has made sure to use these innovations to make the Gladiator safer and more connected than you might think. Each 2023 Jeep Gladiator comes with the Uconnect infotainment system. All of the models except for the Sport trims has the Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch display and a nine-speaker Alpine stereo system. This Alpine system has been designed for all weather since many people love to drive their Gladiator with the roof and door panels removed. This also has a built-in navigation system. The Sport trims feature the Uconnect 4 with a 7-inch touchscreen and an 8-speaker audio system. The more advanced Uconnect 4C is available as an option on the Sport trims. No matter which Uconnect system is on your Gladiator, you will get Bluetooth connectivity, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, allowing you to make hands-free calls and texts while streaming your favorite apps. Jeep has also used technology to improve safety on the Gladiator by using advanced driver assistance features. These come available on the Gladiator as part of different packages depending on the trim level you choose. In general, these features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and rear park assist. Adaptive cruise control helps reduce driver fatigue by allowing you to set a desired speed. The system will then adjust the Gladiator’s speed if traffic in front of your truck is slower than your desired speed. Once the traffic picks up speed or the slower vehicle leaves your lane, the cruise control will return to the speed you originally set. Blind-spot monitoring will help reduce the chances of a highway collision. Unfortunately, when you are driving on a highway, other cars may be driving in your blind spot. This is especially a problem if you are towing a trailer. The monitor will let you know if the other lane has traffic when you signal to change lanes. Once the traffic has cleared, the system will let you know that you can safely change to the desired lane. Frontend collisions are always a problem, particularly when the vehicle in front of you stops short. Fortunately, the system can react faster than you. The forward collision warning will sound if this occurs, with the system engaging the Gladiator’s emergency brakes. This will help you take evasive action to avoid a crash or reduce the damage if an accident is unavoidable. Finally, rear park assist will work with the standard rear backup camera to make it easier to parallel park your Gladiator. It will also come in handy when you have to hitch a trailer or backup while you are towing with your Gladiator. Each of these safety features will add to the convenience of driving a Gladiator in and around North Dakota.
